Smishing
A phishing attack delivered through SMS text messages rather than email.
Smishing↗ (SMS phishing↗) is a phishing attack delivered through text messages rather than email, often impersonating a delivery company, bank, or government agency to trick the recipient into clicking a malicious link or replying with personal information.
Smishing exploits the fact that people tend to trust text messages more than email and often view them on smaller screens where a suspicious link is harder to scrutinize. As with any phishing attempt, verifying a sender through an official channel before clicking is the safest response.
