Pharming
An attack that redirects website traffic to a fraudulent site without the user's knowledge, often by manipulating DNS settings.
Pharming↗ is an attack that redirects a website's traffic to a fraudulent, look-alike site without the victim's knowledge or any action on their part, typically by manipulating DNS settings on a router or compromising a DNS server. Unlike phishing↗, the victim doesn't need to click a malicious link, simply typing the correct web address can still lead to the fake site.
Because the browser's address bar may still show a familiar-looking URL, pharming can be harder to spot than typical phishing. Checking for a valid HTTPS certificate, keeping router firmware updated, and using trusted DNS providers help reduce the risk of falling victim to it.
