Cyber Insurance

A policy that helps cover the financial costs of a cyberattack, such as data breach response and recovery expenses.

·1 min read

Cyber insurance is a policy that helps organizations cover the financial fallout of a cyberattack, including breach investigation costs, legal fees, customer notification, ransomware payments, and lost business income during downtime.

Insurers increasingly require applicants to demonstrate baseline security practices, like MFA and regular backups, before issuing coverage, since poor security dramatically increases both the likelihood and cost of a claim. Cyber insurance is a financial safety net, not a substitute for actual security controls.
