Managed detection and response (MDR) is an outsourced security service where a third-party team monitors an organization's systems around the clock, using tools like EDR, and actively investigates and responds to threats on the client's behalf.

MDR gives organizations that can't afford or staff a full in-house security operations center access to expert-level threat detection and response, closing a gap that would otherwise leave alerts unreviewed and incidents unaddressed for far too long.
