Internet of Things (IoT)

The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to the vast network of everyday physical devices, smart thermostats, security cameras, wearables, appliances, and industrial sensors, that connect to the internet and exchange data, often with little or no direct human interaction.

IoT devices are frequently shipped with weak default passwords, infrequent security updates, or no way to patch↗ them at all, making them a favorite target for attackers building botnets or seeking a foothold into a home or corporate network. Changing default credentials and keeping IoT devices on a separate network segment are basic but effective protections.
